Tenacious D's new album Post-Apocalypto will be out November 2nd

The D have announced plans for their fourth studio album Post-Apocalypto to get it's release on November 2nd and we are effing stoked. The dynamic duo of Tenacious D made up of Jack Black and Kyle Gass have been pretty silent the release of their 2012 album Rize of the Fenix which set out to mend the issues brought one from their critically panned 2006 album/movie The Pick of Destiny which later became a cult classic amongst fans.

The new album will feature 21 new songs and if it's anything like their debut self-titled release from back in 2001 (which features songs and skits) then longtime fans are in for an absolute treat. To celebrate the new release the band also have cartoon mini-series debuting on September 28 via YouTube which will coincide with the themes of the album and (knowing the D's sense of humour) we can only imagine how good it'll be. The teasers have a very The Big Lez Show feel to it so if you're that way inclined with your comedy tastes, check back in then.

On the album the band state:

True to the title, Post-Apocalypto finds Tenacious D thrust into a world of complete and utter destruction following the drop of an atomic bomb. Surviving the attack in classic cinematic fashion (a good old imperishable 1950's refrigerator), the duo quickly learns that new forms of evil have spawned from the blast. One thing becomes apparent — for humanity to prevail, Tenacious D must save the world. With unimaginable twists and turns, an insane visit to the White House, a time machine, a space adventure, and the help of some tried and true daddy issues, Post-Apocalypto is as hilarious as it is political, and as brilliant and multi-faceted as its incredible creators. The songs are damn good, too.

Oh yeah, and Dave Grohl plays drums on the album too so that's fucking awsome.
