Stop Everything! Spiritbox Unveil New Song 'Circle With Me'
If you've been spinning Spiritbox's back catalogue, eagerly anticipating new music, well, the wait is over gang! Today the band dropped their latest single 'Circle With Me', which features hauntingly beautiful vocals, djent filled riffs and synth-a-plenty BUT the thing I love the most about it is, when you listen to it, you instantly recognise its a Spiritbox song... and yes there's a breakdown and heavy gutturals that'll make the hairs on the back of your neck stick up!
When talking about the new single, frontwoman Courtney LaPlante revealed:
"This song was written in the studio as a last minute addition, one of the many reasons we are so grateful to no longer be exclusively working remotely. It captures the spectrum of emotions I’ve been feeling lately about my music. From the anxiety I feel about messing up, to a confidence meant to protect me from self doubt. Visually, we wanted to present the viewer with the image of us that we miss the most: us performing on stage, with nothing to hide behind: instruments, some lights, and beautiful camera movement."
We've been watching this band find their sound over the past few years and they're not afraid to try new things in these early years. Perfect examples are the brutal heaviness of 'Holy Roller' and the soothing intensity of 'Constance', both of which show different sides of what the band can do as a musical group and this new single fits somewhere smack bang in the middle.
They've been working hard on their album too, which is yet to be announced (but we know it's coming) and if you're wondering what it'll sound like, Courtney told us last year:
"Our debut full-length allows for space for us to explore and keep a foot (or at least a few toes) firmly planted in prog, so we really feel like there are no limits as to what can be considered a 'Spiritbox song'"
And that's what we want to hear. A band, not pigeonholing themselves in a specific genre to please fans, but trying new things to broaden their horizons. The video is below and if you haven't heard the track yet - Whataya waiting for?
