Stone Lions Make A Roaring Return with ‘Bite Your Tongue’ feat. Bury Tomorrow's Dani Winter-Bates

After a four-year hiatus, Stone Lions returned in 2023 with an electrifying and reinvigorated pop-punk flair, signaling a sound to be watched (and heard). This journey has continued with the pattern of an annual single drop, and 2025 has just met its contender! Today, the Central Coast rockers release ‘Bite Your Tongue’, employing the help of none other than Dani Winter-Bates of Bury Tomorrow, to make it the ultimate earworm.
‘Bite Your Tongue’ immediately propels itself into a feeling of warmth, lacing the track with a summer anthemic-ness that makes it feel like already, a much loved sing-a-long, driving anthem. Within this is a feeling of nostalgic 10s emo, with hints coming through in the swirling guitar tones and that signature Stone Lions vocal style we have grown to love. Within the feelings of sunrays and weightlessness lies a topical issue, however- the unrelenting nature of exclusivity, especially within cliques and cultures that foster togetherness!
“‘Bite Your Tongue’ is for anyone who’s ever felt like they don’t belong—especially in a scene that’s meant to be inclusive. We’ve all seen it: the same misfits who once craved acceptance become the gatekeepers, tearing others down. It’s frustrating, it’s toxic, and it’s exactly what we’re calling out in this track.” says vocalist and guitarist Chris Randles.
The track continues, seeing layered and soaring guitars crawl their way through fast-paced, electronic drum beats, making a symphony of sound through explosive and enriching energy. To match, Stone Lions have created one of the catchiest choruses of the year, expertly delivered by Randles.
For a final touch of flair, here come the unmistakable vocals of Winter-Bates! Ferocious and intrusive, they offer the perfect dynamic to shift this song entirely, and keep the listener on their tippiest of toes! Finally, ‘Bite Your Tongue’ culminates in a spectacle of vitality and liveliness, oozing a genuine and palpable sense of electricity that makes this track so irresistible!
It feels as though Stone Lions have finally found their sound, taking many big breaks to explore what their identity within the music world means to them;
“We introduced Matt to help add that vibe, and then Timmy came in at a perfect time when our friend Dooz wanted to take a different path in life. This also gave us a new and unique member who helped bring our new chapter to life. However, we have all been friends prior to this happening, so it felt so natural and right.” explains Randles.
Guitarist Matt adds;
“We wanted to try different styles and step outside the box to introduce all the bands’ influences. We have all come from slightly different paths in the music scene, and we wanted our new music to feel honest and reflect all of us."
There is no better time to check out Stone Lions, and ‘Bite Your Tongue’ is a release sure to get stuck in your head for many days to come!
