Rumours Team Up with Windwaker's Will King for New Song 'Neurosis'
After dropping one of the biggest songs of the year (in my opinion) released by an upcoming Australian band, Rumours have begun their year bigger than ever with their latest single, 'If Only You Could Feel Something Too'. The emerging Victorian alternative/rock five piece seem to be hitting new heights with their music this year and have now teamed up with their mate and Windwaker vocalist (and meme lord) Will King for brand new single, 'Neurosis'.
With soaring vocals by vocalist Jackson Bentley pouring gut-wrenching emotion about being in a hopeless state of depression and feeling like there's no way out, 'Neurosis' is a powerful rock ballad that acts as a desperate plea for help when you're in that shitty mental state, and trust me... we've all been there. It's okay not to be okay. Jackson elaborates further on what the song means to him:
"It’s a song I wrote in a drunken state when I was living in my best friend's spare room and had just broken up with the girl I thought I was going to marry. It really is a song about depression and regret and the lack of respect you have for yourself when you’re in these ruts and holes in your life, where there seems like there is just nothing on the other end of this dark tunnel you keep on stumbling through.
It’s a song about losing yourself and finding yourself all in one. The song was originally recorded with my side project Amaris, and is nearly 4 years old, but it’s such an important song to me and I knew it just needed to be on the next Rumours record. I am grateful the boys let me have a track that wasn’t written by them, I think my band members knew how important this song is to me."
Meanwhile, Will King shares his thoughts on the collaborating with his friends:
"My feature on ‘Neurosis’ came fairly naturally as a whole. Working alongside my band’s drummer Chris (Lalic) and being my boys since way back, I’ve found myself in a bunch of Rumours’ studio sessions over the years, watching their growth and getting f**k’d up with them.
Every time I’d rock up, Jackson would without fail always pitch a casual “should jump on, Will”, to which I’d respond something like “aight, let’s g it up”, but would always fall through. It became this recurring meme whenever I’d show up to their sessions. I think it was mostly about it being the right song at the right time; ‘Neurosis’ just seemed to click for everyone and we finally got one down. Unbelievably stoked with how it shaped up. It’s a huge tune."
With three unbelievable tracks already unleashed and the EP being released on March 19, Rumours have evolved quite nicely and are setting themselves up as one of Australia's premier upcoming alternative acts.
