PROMPTS Explore The ‘Stranger’ Inside With Landon Tewers

Tokyo-based metalcore band PROMPTS have a habit of sending us into a sonic-induced frenzy and they’ve done it again. This time though, they’ve enlisted the help of the legendary Landon Tewers from The Plot In You.

A masterclass in genre fusion and refinement, the track explores frontman PK’s battle to live between two different personalities and his relationship with identity.  

"I lived in Korea for 21 years before moving to Japan, and over time, I became fluent in both languages. But the more I switched between them, the more it felt like my personality changed with each one," the vocalist shared.

‍"It was confusing and sometimes even scary. I didn’t know which version of myself was real, and it felt like I was losing myself. This song doesn’t have all the answers - I’m still lost and figuring things out. But I wanted to bring my own experiences to the music, and I hope that people who are going through similar things can find comfort in it and maybe, together, we can find some answers. Do you have a ‘Stranger’ inside you? Let’s figure out how to live with that part of ourselves."

Not just a representation of PK’s inner turmoil, it is a representation of the band’s ability to foster connections and friendship, both internally and on a global scale. The feature from Landon Tewers was a natural choice says the band and was a part of the process.

‍"Landon immediately understood the world and themes we wanted to express, and conveyed them through each sound and word. Elements like sound techniques we hadn't even thought of were added to the original demo, creating a completed piece of art.”

Last year the Japanese metalcore mainstays signed to Greyscale Records and it has been all systems go ever since. Two Australian tours, two banger singles (including last year's stellar track 'Sun Eater') and numerous appearances across their home country- it's no wonder they are entering 2025 with plans to make this their biggest year yet.
