Pierce The Veil Release First New Song In Six Years - Listen to Grungecore Jam 'Pass The Nirvana'

It's been a hot minute since Pierce The Veil released their 2016 album Misadventures, toured Australia with Silverstein and Beartooth on the back of it and then took some time away from the spotlight following sexual misconduct allegations against former drummer Mike Fuentes, who consequently parted ways with the band in 2017 to "concentrate on his personal life".

Fast forward to 2022 and the now three-piece consisting of vocalist/rhythm guitarist Vic Fuentes, lead guitarist Tony Perry and bassist Jaime Preciado return following the band's party-jam anthem 'King For A Day' returning to the Billboard Hard Rock streaming charts in the #1 spot thanks to the power of TikTok! On top of the viral news, the band also have their first taste of new music in six years with the grunge/core jam 'Pass The Nirvana' popping up on streaming services overnight.

We're met with a stripped-back guitar bringing us into Vic's whiney vocal delivery which has a certain Nirvana-esque feel to it, that just explodes into a stoner/grungecore belter by the time the chorus hits. The track as a whole is very guitar-driven and finds the band venturing into new territory away from their post-hardcore roots. I didn't know what to expect with the band coming back and if they'd steer away from their old sound (new era, new direction), but the heaviness of this new song's chorus reallllly proves they're here to leave a lasting impression.

On the new song, Vic Fuentes shared:

"Pass the Nirvana is about the many horrible traumas that the youth of America have endured over the past few years... COVID, no proms, no graduations, an insurrection, school shootings. The list goes on. Their lives have been tossed around like clothes in a dryer, as the tensions within our country have infiltrated our own homes, friends, and families. To me, the song represents a euphoric detachment from all of that anxiety and stress and about finding some form of peace or nirvana."

Recently, most bands within the core scene have opted for introducing EDM and synth to their songs, but this is a straight-up, raw, rock hit that should have you batting for the lads and their rumoured upcoming release.
