Paperweight Unveil New Single 'Lemon Spiders' Ahead of First National Tour with State Champs

Melbourne/Naarm rising stars Paperweight have given their growing fanbase a taste of what's to come when they hit the stage next week opening for US pop punk heavyweights State Champs. The brand new single titled 'Lemon Spiders' marks an explosive new chapter for the local act who made the best of being stuck in lockdown by writing music, launching themselves without playing a single show and in the long run have touted themselves as the future of Australian pop punk.

Their latest track is a crushing blend of fast-paced guitars and infectious melodies that the four piece have increasingly become known for in their incredibly young career. Contrary to what most songs in the genre celebrate, 'Lemon Spiders' actually acts as a f**k you to people who you consider your friends — and acts as a subtle reminder to keep your friends close, but your enemies even closer. Vocalist Haris Dillinger explains:

“'Lemon Spiders' is really a metaphor for a wolf in sheep's clothing, which was inspired by a saying I heard when I was younger which was: ‘some people will only wish you well, as long as you’re not doing better than they are’. It’s something that has stuck with me, as often, times when you experience this kind of thing - it comes from people who you once considered friends."

Together with some fresh pop sensibility, those punchy AF riffs mark some of Paperweight's heaviest yet and is aligned with some of the genre's biggest acts — think Good Charlotte, Waterparks and Stand Atlantic. One listen to 'Lemon Spiders', and you'll want to hit this banger on repeat all weekend.
