Machine Head Unlock Album 11, UNATØNED; Debut New Belter ‘Unbøund’

Bay Area metal legends Machine Head have confirmed they will release their eleventh album, UNATØNED, on April 25, 2025. They’ve got us a wee bit excited by unleashing a new single, ‘Unbøund’, along with the album art and tracklisting.

‍‘Unbøund’ has all the hallmarks fans expect from Machine Head. There’s pinch harmonics on the riffs, which thrash pretty hard, and some gnarly drum fills. Robb Flynn unleashes his aggressive growl alongside some anthemic cleans. The chorus is a breakdown recalling their early days. Lyrically it’s classic MfnH, full of rage and determination to overcome whatever obstacles life throws up. It’s got a pretty sweet performance video too that gets the blood pumping for their upcoming tour. 

The presence of the Ø gimmick and goat horned figure on the album cover might hint at a relationship to the characters on 2022’s concept album ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN. The band themselves haven’t said anything about this yet but let’s see what unfolds for the release campaign. 

The album also includes first single ‘These Scars Wøn’t Define Us’, which was released as a collaboration with singers from upcoming tour mates In Flames, Lacuna Coil and Unearth. Might be worth noting those bands aren’t mentioned as featuring on the album track, so perhaps we are getting a Machine Head only version.
