Justice For Our Demand As Justice For The Damned Release First New Track In Four Years

There are perhaps no more prolific icons of the Western Sydney heavy scene than powerhouses, Justice For The Damned.

After the release of their prophetical and scene-shifting 2020 release, Pain Is Power, it was solidified that this band was something special. Fast forward four years, and the band has endured more than expected, with life throwing every curve ball and challenge their way. In turn, all the resilience and strength has culminated into their new single and hard-hitting anthem, ‘The Current’.

Thick drums swiftly propel us into an echoing and deep soundscape, before the roaring growls of Bobak Rafiee penetrate a firm grasp through to our realm, dragging us further into the band’s new auditory vision; self-described as “leaning further into a metalcore-mosh sound, paying homage to their early days”. Just like it was all those years ago, JFTD’s vocals find themselves buried within this air of maliciousness and grittiness, housing a sharp sense of demand, direness, and utter filth.

Of course, this is elevated and toyed with, when the higher vocals of Nick Adams are welcomed into the equation, causing this dual, shadow-cast feel to the track's vocals. A moment of rest within ‘The Current’ quickly ends before lashing us forward into an even more hellish exposition, with the strength and speed of those chugging guitars and furious drums reaching breaking point.

There is an echoing sentiment to be caught from the moment just before the breakdown, down to the final seconds.

As the band proclaims: “Will you break down, or will you break through?”. There is a call to lament the journey and challenges faced by the band over the past four years, and to so too, reflect on our own self-advocacy; to overcome our problems, connect with our own sense of resilience, and to keep moving with the currents of life. "’The Current’ is a signpost for the direction Justice has stepped toward since 'Pain Is Power'. To us, a statement of resilience feels like the best way to reintroduce Justice to the world and that’s what this song is ultimately."

Camp Justice is certainly not taking this return slowly, gearing up for a nationwide regional tour alongside homegrown heroes, Make Them Suffer, flexing their live muscles that have been worked to their limits despite the lack of new music. But that’s not all…

Today, Justice For The Damned is also announcing a cross-country tour, hitting all the usual suspects, before an epic All Ages Your Locals Finale at Lalor Park and in June/July they'll be supporting Make Them Suffer on their massive regional tour. Tickets here

Welcome back boys, we’ve been waiting for this!
