Judas Priest is On Fire With New Single 'Trial by Fire'

If you’re a Judas Priest fan Christmas just came early. Although the release of the new album Invincible Shield is slated for March 8th 2024 and it’s still November, but we get an early stocking stuffer in the guise of another single. This time it’s ‘Trial By Fire’.

Unlike the first release Panic Attackwhere we were teased with an instrumental snippet, this time we get music and vocals, a full 41 seconds. But it was enough to make the old school metalheads here at Wall of Sound want to spend Friday waiting on our favourite music streaming services for the full-length song to drop.

And here we are, the song has dropped. Much like the first single you instantly hear a bit of the Priest of old. Let’s face it kids when you’ve been making music as long as Judas Priest have you’re going to get echoes of the past. The synth stylings of Turbo aren’t present here, but I do get a nod to 2014’s Redeemer of Souls. There are enough very tasty timing changes throughout this mid-tempo offering to keep you paying attention.

If I was to offer the metal gods one bit of advice it is they should have lead with this as the first single. If ‘Panic Attack’ was holy shit, then ‘Trial by Fire’ is OMFG! But the best thing about this is I now have two new Judas Priest songs on high rotation.

But forget about what we think, give it a spin or three and tell us what you think
