Eihwar Cast A Rhythmic TechNeo Pagan Spell With New Single ‘Völva’s Chant’.

France’s Eihwar are creating their own witchcraft with their spellbinding fusion of electronica and Norse neofolk, and their single ‘Völva’s Chant’ is a remarkable enTRANCEment of spirituality.

The track is a sacred pagan folk song, inspired by Nordic mythology and the wise women known as “völur”, who practiced ancient Nordic magic. Within the first 30 seconds of this ceremonial tune, that is what is articulated by the duo: magic. A percussive rhythm which amazingly alters the heart and soul collectively directs the track, and this pulsation incredibly transports the listeners to another level of being. Whether a meditative enchantment or an ethereal awakening is up to those willing to take this soothing expedition. Its hypnotic mystique is further enhanced by Asrunn’s angelic croon which possesses a healing charisma that feels otherworldly.

It is not until after the halfway point of the single that it evolves into the energised war cry that was immaculately hinted at since the journey’s beginning. Mark’s pummelling technoid beats and waves of electronica conquer the soothing sounds of the introduction and bellowing chants electrify the composition immensely.
The tempo accelerates and convulses, the spirituality becomes rapturous, and the song becomes an outburst of divinity.

Then for the last 30 seconds, a return to the dreamy aura of Asrunn’s poetic harmonies which sedate the spectators into a tranquillity that is near impossible to describe. However, if this writer had to, conceivably this may have been Shamanism.
