Citadel Make Their Presence Known with Stunning New Single 'Parasyte'

Brisbane-based metal/rock group Citadel have dropped what is the must-listen new track of the week with their second single 'Parasyte'. Honestly, from its hauntingly beautiful first notes, I was hooked. And so will you.

Beginning with a soft lull before building into a soaring crescendo over the chorus, the song revolves around loss and heartbreak, and the emotions felt throughout this track are something else. Especially when the riffs are kicked up further in and the band have pulled out what is an outstanding piece of music in Australian progressive metal. Guitarist Nat Patterson dives deeper into the song's backstory:

“'Parasyte' was written at a very dark time in my life, following the end of an engagement and the death of a close family member as well, and is one of the only songs we have where I also wrote the lyrics. 'Parasyte' tackles the complex and harrowing feelings I felt directly after my fiance and I broke it off. I had moved back to my parent’s house to kind of “start over”, and was enduring feelings ranging from deep sadness to burning frustration and anger at how things had turned out.”

This is absolutely one of the year's best new releases from an emerging Aussie act who tick all the boxes that the country's leading acts (Northlane, The Amity Affliction, Windwaker) also possess. We're foreseeing big things to come from Citadel — watch this space!
