Bruce Dickinson Does A Deal With The Devil On New Single 'Rain On The Graves'

If you’re continuing to bathe in the Afterglow of Ragnarok, hold on to your hats because the human air raid siren has backed it up with ‘Rain On The Graves’. Bruce Dickinson has delivered a lyrically visual song when I first heard it, I had visions of a foggy English countryside, walking across soggy moors and meeting a dodgy man.

The song is a crossroads type of story with a man meeting the Devil – in a graveyard of course. During our interview,  Bruce explained the style of the video was an homage to the classic Hammer Horror. Fans of the genre will love what he has done and the video of ‘Rain On The Graves’. Bruce obviously has an inner thespian desperate to burst free as he’s taken on both writing and acting roles for what he’s calling a musical short film. It’s surprising how well the singer slips into the role of a mild-mannered priest clutching at his crucifix who is soon transformed into a knife-wielding rock singer. You’ll have to watch the video for that to make sense.

If after hearing ‘Afterglow Of Ragnarok’ you expected more of the same this single will surprise you. Yes, it’s still Bruce Dickinson, there’s no escaping that, but this is a grimy riff driven stomp.

Side by side the two singles released off The Mandrake Project start to showcase the diverse nature of the album. With no word on a third single as yet this could be all we will get until the album’s release on 1st of March 2024.  Check out ‘Rain On the Graves’ video below.
