Blight Ignites Comeback with Ferocious New Single 'Behexen' feat. Starve's Jordan Dunbar

After years of relative radio silence, Blight has roared back to life.

The Melbourne-based extreme metallers had largely been keeping their activity under wraps, despite whispers circulating that the members were still jamming and writing music together. But earlier this year, when we caught up with vocalist Alister Roy and guitarist Nick Robertson (you can revisit that chat here), it was clear that the band's mindset had shifted; the fire rekindled so to speak. And it wasn’t long before the gears were properly set in motion.

Now, they’re back with comeback single, ‘Behexen’; their first new material since 2021's sprawling Death Knows EP. This blistering new offering features guest vocals from Jordan Dunbar of Melbourne metalcore heavyweights Starve (a Wall of Sound staple), who just recently dropped their debut album, Life Promised Dies.

From the outset, 'Behexen' hits with a cascade of guitar riffs and rapid-fire drums, before settling into a groove so thick you could sink into it. Roy’s vocals are a show-stealing force, staggering in their breadth and power. The apex hits when the song's rolling guitar passages collapse in on themselves, buried under the weight of a final, crushing breakdown.

Buckle up folks - Blight’s resurgence is set to be nothing short of annihilating. Expect a full-length album from them soon.
