Matt Skiba has left blink-182 and returned to Alkaline Trio... for now, and the boys have a brand new album coming out on August 31st via Cooking Vinyl called Is This Thing Cursed? The album couldn't have come at a better time for fans who thought the band were all over after Matt's duties with blink kept him from touring and making new music, but according to the frontman himself, the band are far from over:

Some people thought we were done. We announced a tour and a lot of the shows are already sold out. Nobody knows that we made a new record. It's not unlike getting somebody that you care about something extra super special for their birthday and you're really excited to give it to them. It feels kind of like that.”

The new release marks the band's 9th studio album and will be their first taste of new music in 5 years and great news for long time fans, according to bassist/vocalist Dan Andriano, it's not too far removed from their previous release Maybe I’ll Catch Fire:

“the songwriting process is almost like what it was back in the day. We would just kind of write a song, be excited about it, then move on. We wrote in that spirit in the studio. I really feel like we made a record that the old school fans are going to dig.”

Check out the new song 'Blackbird' and get all those old school AK3 feels back in your life again.

Pre-Orders are in place right here via Cooking Vinyl Australia
