The Lost Paledusk Interview (Patreon Exclusive)
We first laid eyes on the lads from Paledusk on the Metalcore Snitches Tour - where they shared the stage with Alpha Wolf, For For A King, Great American Ghost and locals.
We caught up with the band towards the end of the tour, but in the madness, the interview was never shared online... until now! Dive in Patrons!
Welcome to Australia guys, how have you found the reception so far on the Metalcore Snitches Tour?
Kaito (K): I can only say that this tour is the best. I'm so happy I had a great tour with a great group of guys!
Aussies go wild at shows, but apparently, they're nothing compared to the Japanese metal scene. Tell us a bit about performing at home and the general vibe of shows in Japan?
K: To be honest, Japan is still very serious about coronavirus. Many events still prohibit moshing and diving. That is why we will be happy if we can bring a lot of images to Japan on this tour and change the Japanese scene in a positive way, even if only a little.
On your party song 'Slay!!', you combine disjointed guitars with proggy undertones and fun mix of clean singing and screams - who would you say are your biggest influences when it comes to songwriting and recording?
Daisuke (D): Thank you! The artists that influenced me in writing this song are Arctic Monkeys, Gorillaz and Eric Benet!
Do you think over time you'll slowly start introducing more English lyrics to your music - to become more accessible to a wider audience?
(K): Originally, almost all our lyrics are in English. From now on, our songs may have more Japanese lyrics! I also believe in the beauty of singing Japanese as a Japanese band to compete in the world.
With bands like Crystal Lake, coldrain and Crossfaith making their way into Australian ears - what are you guys doing to make sure you stand out from the pack?
(D): I made songs with a musicality in mind that no one else in the world has done. I want to continue to make music that no one has ever heard before.
If you could take three Australian bands back to Japan with you, who would you try and smuggle back in your suitcases?
(K): Can I bring a lot of bands back to Japan because I will pay you? Haha, Alpha Wolf/Polaris/Void of Vision/Make Them Suffer/SPEED/Trophy Eyes/Justice for the Damned/Hellions/Thornhill and 100% our Australian tour support drummer David! Haha.
So far since signing to Greyscale we've seen singles drop here and there - what is the future with the label looking like? Do we have an album or EP in the works?
(K): Greyscale got us this far and we love them like family! We love Australia, we want to tour a lot in Australia, and we hope to bring a Japanese band to Australia someday!
Now that your debut Australian tour is coming to an end, what's next for the band?
(K): We will tour in Japan this year, and later this year we will go on tour to other foreign countries that are not Australia to show the world what we can do! Please support us! Love you guys!
Any final thoughts for your Australia fans?
(K): We love you, listen to our music at least 1,000 times per day! Arigatooooo!!
