ARCHITECTS Unveil 11th Album The Sky, The Earth & All Between & HEAVY New Hit ‘Whiplash’
It’s been a hot minute since we last heard from Brighton’s best, ARCHITECTS, who tantalised us with two new songs – ‘Seeing Red‘ and ‘Curse‘ – over the past year and kept us wondering what was next for the now foursome following the amicable departure of Josh Middleton.
Well, settle in because not only have they dropped yet another new banger (produced again by former BMTH member Jordan Fish), but they’ve also announced their 11th studio album in the process. Titled The Sky, The Earth & All Between, the new record will hit stores and streaming on February 28, 2025 via Epitaph Records and also features two collaborations, one with House Of Protection, the other with rising US alternative rocker, Amira Elfeky.
Leading with the announcement is new song ‘Whiplash‘ – which combines the band’s tenacity for thumping drums and breakneck riffage that’ll certainly give the naysayers something to bite their tongues over. As frontman Sam Carter screams and sings his way back into our lives, we’re reminded of the sheer talent this band has. The new hit sounds massive and will lean into the stadium metal sound that they’ve been playing around with since supporting Metallica over the past couple of years and as we look into 2025, the band will once again take to the larger venues when they open for Linkin Park.
Sam discusses the return, stating:
“We’re so happy to be back and to be releasing a song that we love so much, it’s us at our very best and we think it’ll be a fan favourite”.
With not one, but two breakdowns, chances are you’ll certainly be suffering from ‘Whiplash‘ upon completion as you set yourself up for a second spin. The music video is phenomenal and exudes Hollywood cinematography in what’s been labelled as their most expensive video to date, filmed in Slovenia and directed by Specter – who is most famously known for working with German Metal Titans, Rammstein.
On the collaboration with the director, drummer Dan Searle says:
“We’ve long admired Director ‘Specter’ for his work with Rammstein so it was a pleasure to bring him in for this song to create something for us. His visual concept gave life to the words in a unique way that may create more questions than answers, but sometimes that’s the beauty in art.
Whiplash marks the beginning of a new era for Architects. It is a song that speaks of tribalism, of a deepening chasm that lies between human beings based simply on opinions and beliefs. It gave us the opportunity to explore these concepts in a way that we haven’t before and for the first time in a while it gave us fuel to write something truly ferocious”.
Less reading, more home moshing.
