As heavy Australian acts such as Alpha Wolf, Polaris, Void of Vision, Justice For The Damned and more (the list could go on and on) take over the alternative music world, a new generation follows in their path. Amongst those is Melbourne-based metalcore quartet Starve. We at WoS HQ have kept a keen eye on the four-piece since the release of their second EP Nausea, which was strongly followed up by their two-track EP titled Six Feet Into The Poppy Field. It's now been over two years since then and we're finally being blessed with more music.Titled 'Sick', the new track is a ferocious assault on the senses which leaves more than a lasting impression at just 34 seconds in length. Frantic drums and sophisticatedly heavy riffs lead us up to vocalist Jordan Dunbar's menacing screams, which simply (yet effectively) state:

'SICK, YOU MAKE ME FUCKING SICK AND YOU DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT ANYBODY ELSE SO DON'T ACT LIKE YOU GIVE A SHIT'

'Sick' is a step towards the big things that this group are destined for and leads me to hope that this single is quite possibly the first step towards the band's next studio release. Whether it be an LP or an EP, you can bet your bottom dollar that we are already counting down the days until we hear word of the their next announcement – hopefully more music (because more Starve is never a bad thing).Catch 'Sick' live when Starve tour the country with Graves this May/June (tickets here).Words by Adam Rice
