In big deathcore news this morning, Chelsea Grin drummer Pablo Viveros has announced his official departure from the band, after taking a hiatus since August 2022. Replacing Viveros is the imitable Josh 'Baby J' Miller of Darko (US) after not so recently leaving SPITE. Chelsea Grin continued to tour and release new music including their epic double record Suffer in Hell and Suffer in Heaven in 2022/23 respectively.Read the statement on Instagram here from the long-time drummer, who has nothing but respect for Baby J:https://www.instagram.com/p/C5dyg9trBbC/?igsh=cTQ3bm1hODNzMTF0&fbclid=IwAR1MCyhv4bpUyslHlvR43SkmOC0JIvWKC4O_xHLZL_-okBbIrMpP9ciuY8o_aem_AfDq5LY-_ckzpzipuqO3ni1Tkvv4hybyfGgidaPjnHYHkBzM5_gyyxiCS8qBfjuQyRm5fdffX97KdPz44tX4Wa5yOf course, we know now where Viveros has been spending his time, kicking off epic new outfit Ameonna with Chelsea Grin legacy members Alex Koehler and Jacob Harmond. The group have burst into the deathcore scene with an absolute bang, releasing debut EP Goddess Wept and are already onto their second campaign with new single 'Last Respects'.When Chelsea Grin toured Australia on the epic Decade of Hate tour, Nathan Pearson filled in on drums, while coincidentally SPITE also joined the tour, enabling Baby J to spend some time with Chelsea Grin - perhaps that's where the love began (that's what we like to think anyway). The shows also allowed both Darko members to tour Australia together. We even grabbed vocalist Tom Barber for a quick chat on the tour to discuss both Chelsea Grin and Darko.Baby J has shown his excitement in an Instagram post too:https://www.instagram.com/p/C5d5dNJLfYQ/?igsh=bjAxazZyMW91am8z&fbclid=IwAR2xQg7pBQj3upBuSABvaTKFASYxKZ4KLEbAiFPKosYNwxC9nqh3sB0trlU_aem_AfDH5Wtjwfqo7nJYrNPw8_FNx6IXXXHjT1sgIC9pSO-dz3sJOgPgadcFCq2NNteATQENIaITVhq2h7OR71EimWQXAfter releasing a series of Darko singles recently and with a new record in the works, it sure is interesting to see both Baby J and Barber in both Darko and Chelsea Grin together - hopefully it means more writing on the road.In more turn of events, it seems fill-in drummer NathanPearson was blindsided by the news, posting his own statement on socials which reads:
"I can’t say that this all doesn’t feel unfortunate... I can’t say that I wasn’t blindsided. I can say I gave it my best. I can say I put everything I had into my craft for over two and a half years straight, and have seen/done some amazing things with the @chelseagrinofficial camp."
