Fresh off their Live In Moscow album release in June, featuring gritty and rancid bangers such as ‘Baba Yaga’ & ‘Demolisher’, everyone’s favourite chaotic, Russian deathcore outfit Slaughter To Prevail are back with their first single since cry for peace anthem ‘1984’. This single alone was one the bands most emotionally raw songs begging the end of the current Russia/Ukraine war.

Trade in your Adidas Sweat-suits for leathers and furs, hand over your smart phone and grab your battle-axe, the ‘Viking’ is here.

Creepy tones set the mood with a bloodbath of sinister nature calls and ominous chanting with a daunting singular drum beat. A disruptive roar led by dark, swift guitars churned together with harmonics, dunked in a sea of chugs along the way. The journey continues through a fresh, melodic chorus with a vocal focus and a rest for the instrumentalists holding up weight of the songs tectonic prowess.

The chorus drums are a big stand out that gives you the same reminiscent, deep feel as the intro drums. The pacing slows for the second verse - stopping to take in the destruction of battle around you. Alex Terrible continues to step it up all aspects of his vocals ranging from yells, growls, gutturals, and squeals. An implosive, mind-sizzling guitar solo blisters towards the end, to be faded out by placid, clean tendril of notes.

All the way from their Chapters Of Misery 2015 EP (pre-Sumerian Records), Slaughter To Prevail have continued to undergo metamorphosis and have stayed an absolute staple for Russian metal bands on the map to become more popular.

On the single, Alex comments:

“"Viking" is a powerful ode to the spirit of the ancient warriors, infused with our signature metal energy and a touch of folklore that will transport you to a realm of ancient legends and battle cries. Now, we are thrilled to bring this experience from the stage to your speakers.”
