Worm Shepherd Return With Eclectic Tune ‘The Dying Heavens’ & Announce EP

Worm Shepherd 2023

About four months ago Massachusetts outfit Worm Shepherd followed up sophomore record Ritual Hymns with ‘The Frozen Lake Pt. 2 (The Ruined)‘ and set the tone for 2023’s stream of symphonic blackened deathcore. The track was a sequel to The Frozen Lake‘ off the band’s debut album In the Wake Ov Sòl.

As the back-end of the year kicks in, so does another jam from the heavy hitters. Worm Shepherd have released new single ‘The Dying Heavens‘. The single spans a whopping six and a half minutes and is incredibly textured with symphonic deathcore magic. After an epic extended intro, vocalist Devon Duarte starts purging to some slow and crushing drums. It doesn’t take long before Worm Shepherd to ascend into their blackened groove.

With a mid-way bridge, the ‘The Dying Heavens‘ takes a turn and with an interlude it shifts into an eerie mood with Duarte sharing some brief cleans before a symphonic breakdown that brings everything together. Worm Shepherd really display their eclectic talents with this one.

Update: Worm Shepherd have announced that both ‘The Frozen Lake Pt. 2 (The Ruined)‘ and ‘The Dying Heavens‘ will feature on upcoming EP The Sleeping Sun, out August 18 via Unique Leader Records.

On the EP announcement, guitarist Tre Purdue shares:

“This EP has a ton of layers to it. We wanted to capture a lot of elements that we haven’t tackled before and retain some of the sound we’ve had previously. When I wrote this EP I wanted you to experience something new every song. Going from emotional melodies to bone crushingly heavy… I think is something we captured perfectly on this EP and is only a taste of what’s to come, as we continue to grow and experiment with our sound.”
