Keeping to the same nu-metal-goth edge since switching it up from hip-hop, Mike’s Dead releases new single ‘Welcome To Hell’ where the underworld is brought to earth by Emmure's own Frankie "no-fucks-given” Palmeri. The single comes off the back of Mike's Dead releases like 2021's Revenge and more recent singles '#1 Crush' and 'Scream & Shout'. For a bit of back-story on Mike, check out our in-depth chat with him here.

This collab elicits an interesting fusion as these two artists share a similar darkness, with Palmeri (who we last spoke with back in 2020) having purged the song title in Slave To The Game's 'Blackheart Reigns' over ten years ago - 2012 to be exact.

Clear heavy influences from KoRn and Limp Bizkit spill out, with a groovy and deep tone for the main vocals. Guitars coming up the rear with strung out noises and repetitive note bending gets you feeling like the way you look at someone on MDMA at a gig with The Prodigy playing. Palmeri was last heard on the mic back in 2020 on Hindsight and kicks it again on 'Welcome To Hell' with perfect blend of nu-metal rapping and hardcore screams - “I bet you thought I was finished but I’m back at the gates”.

On the new single, Mike comments on the intense, vulnerable lyrics:

“From an overall perspective I’m somewhat describing what my mind is like, the things I think, see and go through.” There’s one line that Frankie has 'you can call this hell but I call this home' that really summarises the narrative well. Another bookmark song for mental health, not to be ashamed of who you are, because “we’re all a little crazy”.
