Belle Haven Continues Forward Trajectory with New Single ‘Hard Stare, Soft Touch’

To say it’s been an emotional return for Belle Haven would be underselling just how hard this band have been pushing with their new approach to music since becoming a fully-fledged emo band following the release of singles ‘I Can’t Find The Words‘ and ‘Grimace‘.

Now, the boys are back with ‘Hard Stare, Soft Touch‘ – an uptempo, riff-focused offering that once again highlights frontman David De La Hoz‘s incredible range and abilities (his best performance since Forget Me‘), while his band of brothers play with precision behind him. I’m getting similar vibes to early material from The Used (without the screaming), with plenty of gusto and emotion throughout.

The new song was inspired by social chameleons that mould themselves to other personalities, in order to gain trust and favours, only to change their colours when the company of others. A topic we’ve all experienced and continuing on from the themes surrounding the music industry the band touched on with previous single ‘Grimace‘.

On the new track, David explains:

“Unfortunately, while we’re experiencing a great deal of (much needed) change on a social level at the moment, these social chameleons use the changing environment to hide in plain sight offering themselves as allies when in reality they serve no purpose but themselves.”

We’re stoked about this band’s progression and return-to-form following a few tumultuous years battling internal demons and the industry itself – and we cannot wait to share the little project we’ve been working on together – which will give you a much closer and in-depth look at the return of Belle Haven in 2023… more on that soon.

Until then, give the song a spin and fill your emo hearts with love!
