Introducing: No Life – Nu-Metalcore From Over The Ditch With ‘Knives Edge’

No Life Delinquent

We’ve discovered a new band who like to make loud noises. Nu-metalcore Kiwis No Life stepped into the scene, release their debut EP last year and they’ve undergone some touring before making some more loud noises.

We’re stoked to be introducing their latest chaotic single ‘Knives Edge‘ which will is their lead-single off upcoming EP Delinquent. The track draws influences from a lot of contemporary nu-metalcore bands with mathcore mayhem bleeding through. We got a bit of a download with the boys, and here’s how it went.

It’s so great to have you chilling with us at Wall of Sound. First of all – your band name No Life – is it based on Slipknot’s track?

It’s great to be here Ricky, so thank you! We really appreciate it! It sure is! The anger and vehement of that track felt like the best representation of our sound as a band, so it was a no brainer really to name ourselves after it.

For those that don’t know you, you’re nu-metalcore band from NZ. What can you share about your beginnings?

So, No Life formed in lockdown 2021. Essentially we were frustrated and wanted to make the most pissed off music we possibly could. We have all been prominent members of the NZ Metal scene for near on 15 years now and with that, we wanted to be vulnerable and to share our unique story.

Today you’re sharing brand new single unto the world called ‘Knives Edge’ – I’m hearing influences from Varials and Tallah, tell us about how the song came about?

Thank you! What cool comparisons to have. Knives Edge intent is to come straight to the jugular. It’s an open letter laced with venom to my father who has been responsible for many years of abuse and childhood trauma. We wanted to come straight from the hip and utilise fast riffs and heavy drum and bass elements topped off with some fun scratching elements to tell this story. It’s meant to be unnerving but relatable to people who feel like they may have lost their voice in similar situations.

The single will feature on your forthcoming EP Delinquent – will the tracks sound similar to this or a bit of a mixed bag?

The tracks will keep that high energy and aggression but it will dive into many other elements and progressively get heavier and darker. We really wanted to showcase our diversity in this release and to create the best songs possible.

When we expect said EP to drop?

Delinquent will drop very soon, we can’t give away too much just yet. But within the next few months you can expect to hear a lot more from us.

Will we get to hear any other singles prior to the release?

You sure will! I can give you that much and we can’t wait for y’all to hear & see it

Have you got around to do much touring over in NZ yet? What about over the ditch?

Last year we released our debut EP and were fortune enough to headline an NZ tour off of it. It was extremely fun and a humbling time. This year we are going even bigger and have a stacked NZ tour ready to be announced followed by our debut Australian run with absolute legends in Sydney band TEETH. So, you cool cats in Australia can expect us on your shores very soon.

Any final words for heavy music fans on what to expect from No Life?

You can expect to hear a lot from No Life going forward. We have no plans of slowing down and can’t wait to show you what us Kiwis can offer. NZ metal is the strongest it’s ever been and it’s an honour to be apart of such a fun time in New Zealand’s history! Lastly before we go you can expect phat riffs, heavy breakdowns and passionate music that we hope you can relate to and enjoy! Cheers for taking the time to read a little bit about us! Chur!
