They Are, They Are, The Tunes Of Fixation – Exposing Conspiracies & Their AbILLity.

Fixation

Open yourself up to extreme possibilities only when they’re the truth.” Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovony) ‘Beyond the Sea’, The X-Files.

Norway’s Fixation are about The Truth with their new single ‘Flat Earth’ and it is a Kill Switch on conspiracies, to an extent. The track begins with an eerie 80s synth prelude that would fit flawlessly in an episode of the science fiction drama series before developing into an alternative post hardcore rock verse that Holding Absence would be proud of. The chorus then erupts with boundless energy, a powerful anthem that recalls earlier You Me At Six, but with a dramatic reality provoking deeper thought. This is what the quintet have remarkably achieved with the follow up to Ignore The Disarray released in March through Indie Recordings.

‘Flat Earth’ is a journey into the minds of ‘tin foil hat’ wearers and their ignorance to accept scientific fact, as the band explains: “Flat Earth is a track that delves into the minds of people who persuade themselves into believing conspiracy theories. People that are so centred around their own perception of the truth that they refuse to see it any other way. The lyrics sums it up: ‘Even if they see it, they probably won’t believe it’.”

The film clip is thematically befitting to The X-Files with flashing lights, quarantine outfits and spooky undertones. However, if there is a certainty with Fixation, it is that their brand of versatile heavy alternative rock is astonishing and that “truth is out there”.

Fixation’s debut album More Subtle Than Death is set to be released September 8 via Indie Recordings.
