It's been a turbulent time for heavy rap group Fever 333 who underwent a bit of a band spill last year where guitarist Stephen Harrison and drummer Aric Improta left the band, leaving the ex-letlive. frontman Jason Aalon Butler rocking it solo. As such, Fever 333 were inevitably forced to cancel their appearance at Good Things Festival.
Fast-forward to a new year, and there is a new era of the band, who has now grown from a trio to a quartet. Butler is now joined by Brandon Davis on guitar, April Kae on bass and backing vocals, as well as Thomas Pridgen on drums. The foursome have made their official return to headphones with new single '$wing'.
The new gen-Fever 333 is stunning, channelling the roots of Butler's early visions with rhythmic progressions where the new members really lean into the hip-hop side of the group. With an incredibly catchy chorus and the incessant aggression against the system, this track sees the return of our favourite contemporary response to Rage Against The Machine.
On '$wing', Butler comments:
"In a system that exploits the aforementioned instruments of power (the people) for financial and political advancement, we must collectively understand and redirect the dynamic once we realize that we are not powerless against it, is a sonic reminder that you are the power that they seek and you are the resource they need."
