After about four years, prog-perfectionists Periphery are back with new music. Back in 2019, the U.S. five-piece delivered the remarkable Periphery IV: Hail Stan, featuring singles like 'Blood Eagle' and 'Garden in the Bones'. We got to hear first hand all about the record from vocalist Spencer Sotelo about the 2019 LP, and we're absolutely due for a freshie for the 2023 Periphery chapter.
Now, before we get onto the big news, it should be known that whilst the progressive-metalers haven't shared new music in a while, guitarists Mark Holcomb and Misha Mansoor have been busy with side-project Haunted Shores and released instrumental record Void in March last year - definitely worth a spin.
Anyway, today Periphery have announced their forthcoming record Periphery V: Djent Is Not A Genre. The band's seventh LP is out March 10, 2023 via 3DOT Recordings and includes not one, but two brand new singles titled 'Wildfire' (with video) and 'Zagreus' which you can stream right now below; oh and they both slap, as per usual. The tracks are heavy, diverse and span a very decent duration.
