Following on from the release of their last single ‘Real Life‘ and the news they’d been signed to Sharptone Records, Story of the Year have announced their sixth studio album Tear Me To Pieces will be released on March 10th, 2023 and the celebrations are continuing!
The lads released the title track of their upcoming record and, holy shit, what a throwback to their earlier post-hardcore years with frontman Dan Marsala‘s melodic vocals taking centre stage, amongst a looming heavy instrumental behind him before the tempo picks up and we’re met with his tasty screams again! It’s going to draw in fans (new and old) and prove once again, why SOTY have been one of the best scene kings since their 2003 debut Page Avenue. Also, the new album cover pays homage and gives a nod to that release with the falling silhouette on the cover.
“I think this album will be a defining moment in our career,” says guitarist Ryan Phillips. “When our fans hear it, they’ll be like, ‘Oh, shit, these dudes are ready to go!’ This is the sound of a band putting everything into it. If a new band came out with this album, I’d be texting everyone in my band about it.”
“This song fully represents the lyrical and musical vibe of the entire album,” continues DanMarsala. “That’s why we chose it to be the opening track and album title as well. ‘Tear Me To Pieces’ puts you in the right mindset to hear the best record Story Of The Year has recorded in a long time”.
My interest is piqued lads, let’s see what else is yet to come!
