One of the hardest-working guitarists in the world right now is the one and only Josh Middleton of Sylosis and Architects. After punching out two albums with his fellow Tech Heads (For Those That Wish To Exist and the forthcoming LP the classic symptoms of a broken spirit) he’s back on deck with Sylosis, picking up where the band left us at the end of last year with their single ‘Immovable Stone‘ which also included a tease about a new album on the way in 2022.
Now, it’s time to feast your ears on ‘Heavy is the Crown‘ – a riff-heavy, blastbeat filled neck-snapper that showcases Josh’s screams and shredding abilities alongside bandmates Conor Marshall (bass), Alex Bailey (rhythm guitar) and Ali Richardson (drums). If you love punchy metal jams with solos galore, go no further than this one!
On the track, Josh says this one is part of a trilogy that didn’t make the final cut of the record:
“Heavy Is The Crown is the first of a trilogy of singles we’re releasing this year – these songs were developed during the writing of the next Sylosis record and although weren’t right for the album, are perfect for some standalone bangers. Heavy Is The Crown is a song that all our fans can get into and also highlights some of the progression in the band’s sound.”
The band dropped their last release Cycle of Suffering back before the plague hit in 2020 and with a new record on the way, we’re going to be seeing a lot more of Josh and his bands in our eyes and ears for the next few years and beyond… so make sure you keep up!
