Novelists FR Relaunch With 'Smoke Signals', Announces Déjà Vu Record

Whilst Nicolas Delestrade has been busy getting stupidly heavy with ten56., it seems like label mates Novelists FR who he's also well known for, have also been cooking up something delicious in Paris. Although we got a few of singles last year from the French progressive metalcore crew, namely 'Terrorist', 'Lost Cause' and 'Do You Really Wanna Know?' we haven't had a new album from them since C'est La Vie in 2020.... until now.

Novelists have just announced their fourth album Déjà Vu is coming out on September 2nd, 2022 via Out Of Line Records. The other piece of news the band have shared is that they have recruited Pierre Danel as a permanent guitarist, who featured on single 'Echoes' quite a few years ago. Danel also plays with French outfit Kadinja, with Quentin Godet who is shared with ten56. 

The album announcement comes with new single 'Smoke Signals' which has just emerged, along with a new music video. The single kicks in with a high-tuned melody as newish vocalist Tobias Rische gives it his all across both cleans and uncleans. The mixed melodies continue in a bit of a modern Bring Me The Horizon kind of way, enabling Delestrade to retain musical diversity between his two babies, Novelists and ten56. 

'Smoke Signals' is a really catchy tune that retains elements of the band's progressive discography, but with new elements that may surprise in the best kind of way.  

Delestrade comments on the new recruit:

"Guitar has always been a significant part of the band, and although the 'riffs' have taken a step back in our most recent materials, we still value the instrument more than ever. We have decided to approach it differently, experimenting deeper into the sound of it and letting it shine through guitar solos instead of intricate riffs buried under the vocals. When it was time to get a second guitarist into the band, we thought, who else than Pierre, France's most talented and versatile player - although he is too humble to ever admit it!

"Pierre has also been a close friend of ours for the past ten years, and he is bringing a lot to the band on a human level, always happy and full of energy! It really was a no-brainer, and we couldn't be happier to welcome him as a permanent member".
