Windwaker sure are spoiling us right now, aren’t they? With current single ‘Beautiful’ still making incredible strides for the young Melbourne outfit this month, the boys are maintaining that strong momentum with follow-up track ‘Lucy’. Loosely inspired by psychedelic experiences, Australia’s most compelling four-piece are adding new layers of chaotic rock their catalogue. The band share:
“We are alive, we are breathing, and we are all very lucky to have been gifted the unique opportunity to be conscious, and so we have been gifted perspective. For this, we have the ability to manifest a bright future for ourselves, if we want one.”
The band’s latest offering is a fresh perspective on vocalist Will King’s vast vocal range, while also delivering quite the sensual listening experience. The boys are certainly keeping up with that seering blend of semi-metalcore and hard rock sensibility we’ve come to love. Where ‘Beautiful’ came firing on all cylinders, ‘Lucy’ prefers to stay contained on the sidelines with its staggering edge of rock-tinged melodies. It’s by far Windwaker’s edgiest track we’ve heard yet.
With two solid belters released so far, Windwaker’s Love Language is already on the way to be a hot AOTY contender when it drops in May. I’m a little too excited, aren’t you?
