Sum 41's Deryck Whibley Joins Simple Plan on Their Newest Single 'Ruin My Life'

If there's two bands we can absolutely count on to drop a five-star collaboration, it's Simple Plan and Sum 41. The two Canadian pop punk/rock heavyweights have finally joined forces for the first time EVER in new single 'Ruin My Life'.

Drawing us in with an ever explosive riff, 'Ruin My Life' sees Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley revisit his pop punk days alongside Simple Plan for what is a cathartic release about putting yourself first ahead of others:

Ruin My Life is a song about overcoming adversity, going through a difficult life situation, and not only surviving it, but becoming an even stronger and more resilient version of yourself because of it. It’s fun, catchy, energetic and empowering and we’re so excited to share it with our fans. Having Deryck from Sum 41 sing on it with us makes it even more special!

The track itself provides an empowering message which deems on brand for the band who are experts at producing anthems that sit close to many fans' hearts. Like many songs before it, 'Ruin My Life' is likely to sit as a new favourite for SP fans across the world.

Whibley's verse is definitely the most powerful verse we've heard from the Sum 41 vocalist since his band went down a more metal route on their 2019 release, Order in Decline. While we did a witness a glimpse on Sum 41's 'Catching Fire', this guest feature is a return to his origins and an iconic side we haven't heard from Deryck since 2007's Underclass Hero days.

Simple Plan are no strangers to embracing the supportive, friendly camaraderie that exists in the music community. In the past, the Canadian pop punk leaders have teamed up with Blink-182's Mark Hoppus, All Time Low's Alex Gaskarth and Jordan Pundik (New Found Glory). Their latest collab came way back in 2019 with State Champs and We The Kings on 'Where I Belong'.

This new release follows on from 'The Antidote' which dropped late last year, and after listening to both tracks now it sounds like the boys are heading down the emo path for album #6. In saying that, the tracks are still insanely catchy. Details on this forthcoming LP are scarce for now, but imminent. While you watch this space, say goodbye to your demons and hit 'Ruin My Life' on repeat!
