Teen Jesus & the Jean Teasers Maximise Their Potential in 'Miss Your Birthday' Video

How great is it to see all-female acts in the music industry right now? The other day we had US four-piece The Linda Lindas and now we're bringing the talent a little closer to home base with young Canberra punk act Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers. These girls are quickly rising the ranks in the scene and their newest single 'Miss Your Birthday' has already seen them skyrocket these last few months.
Needless to say, the band have racked up a big team behind them for this. While co-written by Alex Lahey and Violent Soho's James Tidswell, 'Miss Your Birthday' celebrates the freedoms we get when we finally move out of home. To celebrate the song's success thus far, the girls have produced their most energetic music video yet! The video also features a very familiar Slowly Slowly frontman, Ben Stewart.
Vocalist/guitarist Scarlett McKahey humbly shares the entire experience with us:
"The 'Miss Your Birthday' video is a big bowl full of all our favourite things! The bright colours with the lil punk schoolgirl skirts are the two sides of Teen Jesus, so it’s amazing to see them on screen for the first time! The storyline follows Neve, Jaida and Scarlett who are stuck in Detention being yelled at by their teacher (Ben Stewart from Slowly Slowly) and are missing Anna’s birthday party. The video was directed by Kyle Caulfield, who aimed to keep the story fairly loose but very visually encapsulating. We had the best time with Kyle and his team and are so excited to finally share our first real music video."
