Melbourne memecore outfit Windwaker have some MASSSSSIVE news to share with us all today!

The foursome have officially signed to Fearless Records (worldwide) and Cooking Vinyl Australia locally; and to celebrate, they’ve unleashed a cover of… wait for it… ‘Toxic‘ by Britney Spears.

For those who have been following out coverage of Windwaker since 2018, we stated in our interview with the band at BIGSOUND 2018 that frontman Will King had an incredible vocal range that, at times, made him sound like an exceptional female singer belting out those high melodic performances in a live setting (don’t worry, he knows about this as we covered it during our post-BIGSOUND podcast interview). So today seeing the band covering the iconic Britney comes at no surprise – they absolutely KILLLLLED this cover and that breakdown call is going to be an iconic experience at Knight And Day Festival in a couple of week…

On the ‘Toxic‘ cover, Windwaker said:

“‘Toxic’ is an all-time banger; the song undeniably slaps, we’ve never taken ourselves too seriously in that sense. We’ve always been an ‘If it feels right, it feels right’-type of group’, and this cover came together like that. Not everything has to be this big, pretentious song and dance of ‘Look at us! Look at us!'”

On behalf of everyone at Wall of Sound HQ – we can’t congratulate the lads enough on today’s announcement. They’ve always been destined for big tings and it’s so great to see those plans playing out now for the world to see. Be sure to catch them on their upcoming Aussie Tour alongside The Gloom In The Corner, Banks Arcade and Closure via Destroy All Lines.
