Memphis May Fire Close The Year Off With ‘Left For Dead’
Memphis May Fire are not quite done with 2021… just yet. The Texan metalcore band have delighted fans with one last single for the year, titled ‘Left For Dead‘, on the back of a bunch of singles this year, namely ‘Somebody‘, ‘Bleed Me Dry‘ and ‘Death Inside‘, all which have done two great things; one – revitalise noughties metalcore, and two – showcase the versatility of the Rise Records band.
On the new single, Mullins says:
“It’s definitely not the ‘norm’ to release such a heavy-hearted song this close to Christmas, but the truth is, there are so many people hurting during the holiday season. Pain is an unavoidable part of the human experience and it doesn’t magically disappear at this time of year. I hope that anyone who can relate to ‘Left For Dead’ will feel less alone in their pain, especially during a time when social media makes you feel like you’re the only one struggling. We will be donating 100% of the proceeds from the ‘Left For Dead’ tee in our online merch store to Beneath the Skin, a non profit that provides genuine connection to young women who feel alone through peer-to-peer mentoring.”
The new single has had Matty Mullins and co. drop another heavy hitter, which is confirming their new/current direction stylistically, and we don’t think fans are upset about it. Instrumentally, the pace is stepped up, and Mullins puts the growls on the forefront, and blends in his cleans generally for the chorus only; but he’s really embracing some dirty breakdowns. The rest of the band have really tuned it down, and swung into heavy mode too, and whatever Memphis May Fire have in store for 2022 (hopefully an LP), it seems like it’s shaping up.
Check out the new single ‘Left For Dead‘ at midnight local time, and look out for the visualiser premiering below.
