Wall Of Sound Presents: “2021 YEAR IN REVIEW” by Nikki Sixx

It is with great excitement we bring to you our next Year in Review by the one and only – NIKKI SIXX!

Following Sixx:A.M.‘s signing with Better Noise Music, the heavy metal icon has kept himself busy in more ways than you’d imagine over the past two years. Firstly he became a four-time New York Times best selling author following the release of his latest memoir THE FIRST 21, which depicts his own origin story of how Frank Feranna became Nikki Sixx. A greatest HITS album followed featuring new song ‘The First 21‘.

He also teamed up with an all star cast of rock’s finest including Corey Taylor, Joe Elliott, Brantley Gilbert, Ivan Moody, Slash and more for the song ‘Maybe It’s Time‘ (taken from the Sno Babies movie soundtrack) – to draw attention to the opioid crisis in the US and, in turn, raise funds and save lives in the process. Nikki has been proudly using his status to advocate for expanding the support services for people in recovery from substance use disorder (SUD) – using his own personal experiences to help make a big difference.

Mötley Crüe also announced their comeback to play a stadium tour across America alongside Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts – which, much like the rest of the world, was postponed until the pandemic was well and truly in a more managable situation.

What other projects has Sixx dabbled in over the span of 2021? We’ll you have to take a look and read on as we celebrate the man in questions 63rd Birthday today, December 11th. A MASSIVE milestone with plenty of fuel in the tank – ready to roll – once the world opens back up again…

Until then, here is Nikki Fucking Sixx‘s 2021 Wall of Sound Year in Review!

LAST GIG YOU PLAYED BEFORE COVID HIT?

Been off the road for a while so not sure!

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT RETURNING TO THE STAGE?

I love performing live. I’m looking forward to getting out on the stadium tour because of the bands we are touring with, but also to see the pent-up excitement about live music coming back.

HOW DID YOU STAY BUSY THROUGHOUT THE PAST TWO YEARS?

Well I wrote a book. SIXX:AM recorded a bunch of new music and put out a HITS album. I sold my home in Los Angeles, CA and moved my family to Wyoming. I also formed an animation company for children’s programming, working on a children’s book with my wife to help children understand after the last administration is inclusivity is what they need to learn not divisiveness. And I started working on a coffee table poetry/photography book.

BEST ADVICE GOING INTO 2022?

Stop the in fighting, stop picking sides and everybody try to pull together for the betterment of each individual country and the world. Find something in common with other people like heavy metal, art etc.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2022?

Looking forward to band rehearsal, one of my fav things is getting in with the guys, no one’s around, and just being creative, figuring out segways between songs, extended guitar solos, rearranging the set and just getting tighter and tighter with the band. We usually rehearse for about a month before tour so it’s somewhat leisurely but there’s a ton to be done before tour starts in June.
