As It Is Team Up with Set It Off’s Cody Carson & JordyPurp for ‘IN THREES’

Have you been sitting with the thoughts inside your heard so much lately you feel almost claustrophobic? Then As It Is’ brand new track, ‘IN THREES’ is the banger for you! C’mon we’ve all been there. The UK alt/pop punk trio are on fire right now, on the verge of their forthcoming new album, I WENT TO HELL AND BACK to come next year on Fearless Records.

Dropping in with some sick synth bass and pop synergies, ‘IN THREES’ sees the band team up with the incredible Cody Carson (Set It Off) and their good friend JordyPurp for what is considered a lyrically dark track of our innermost thoughts and vulnerabilities. Vocalist Patty Walters shares:

It’s an intensely dark listen, both lyrically and musically, but it was a total opposition experience to create. We wrote this one with our good friend Cody Carson, who brought this infectious joy and creativity to the studio. Once we had penned the lyric ‘Tragedy comes in threes,’ we knew the track would feel incomplete (if only to us) without a third artist attached, and our friend JordyPurp crafted such an insane feature to finalise the concept.”

I am in so much awe of the hybrid alternative and emo-pop vibes on ‘IN THREES’ which doesn’t stray too far from what As It Is have been releasing so far this year, amongst ‘I Miss 2003’, ‘I Lie To Me’ and  ‘IDGAF’. In fact, it’s very much a wholesome addition to this whole emo pop collective that has been creating a storm of its own this year. Set It Off’s Cody chimes in his own thoughts on their new collab:

“This is one of the best collaborations I’ve ever been a part of. This song has aggression, vulnerability, meaningfulness, genuine pain, and acceptance. It’s the human experience. We really went in and had SO much fun making this. We were legit seeing the music video in our heads as we were writing the song itself. This song to me is the definition of new alt. The way it begins with the loud bass synth paired with the fire alarm to the octave gliding distorted guitars in the chorus.”

Huge fan of both bands. Am an even bigger fan of this collaboration itself. Get amongst it!
