As It Is Are Back in Their Heaviest Single Yet ‘IDGAF’

UK pop punk/emo three piece As It Is are back in all their emo attire for new single ‘IDGAF’.  Continuing the similar trajectory they gave us with 2018’s The Great Depression, this brand new offering feels catchier, edgier and dare I say it, slightly HEAVIER? I am so here for this.

The band share:

“‘IDGAF’ was the first thing we created that made us feel anything. It harnesses so many feelings that we’ve all been experiencing, so if you’re anxious, heartbroken, pissed off, and wanna give the fuck up, turn the volume up. The raw attitude and energy of this track ended up defining the direction of the rest of this record. This is As It Is — unsettled, unhinged, and unboxed.”

If this song doesn’t make you wanna “get the fuck up” by the end of it, you’re going to need to get another coffee in ya. This is As It Is — all grown up and better than ever. Featuring an undeniably catchy hook that’ll have you singing (or screaming) alongside frontman Patty Walters like you did when you first heard ‘Can’t Save Myself’ five years ago. As a longtime/OG fan of As It Is, I think I just fell in love with the band all over again here. While they’ve gone through quite the lineup change in recent years, I think the transition to the alternative/rock trio they are today looks hella good on them.  Patty, Ronnie and Alistair, you boys absolutely nailed this.

Apparently there’s more As It Is on the way too. The guys further revealed:

We started writing the next chapter of As It Is in 2019. We had written a lot of cool songs but none of them were telling our story or communicating how we were actually feeling. When ‘IDGAF’ happened, it was the first thing that incapsulated the heartbreak, defeat, and disappointment we were feeling with ourselves and the world around us. When the pandemic happened and the world shut down, that’s when we really spiraled. We’re unwell and we have been. ‘IDGAF’ is all in the title. It’s for all of us and it’s yours now.

While there’s no official date yet on As It Is’ forthcoming fourth record, you definitely want to keep your ears peeled. Going off this banger, it’s probably going to be their best record yet. Stoked!
