As It Is Share EPIC Love Letter To The Scene in 'I Miss 2003' + Announce New Album
British emo/pop punk three-piece As It Is have been throwing back to the glory days lately in their music. Especially with their last track 'I Lie To Me' and I feel like I've fallen in love with this band like I did with their debut, Never Happy, Ever After. Even with the angsty 'IDGAF', Patty Walters, Ronnie Ish and Alistair Testo are well and truly back in their prime — especially with their brand new single 'I Miss 2003'! The boys share:
"This was the last song written for the album, written and tracked in the last two days of recording. Thematically, there was little left unsaid on the album, which is always a liberating feeling because no risk is off limits anymore. Why not write a love song about the bands that sparked a fire inside you? Why not decorate all the lyrics with band names and song titles? It was a true joy to write, and in its own weird way, it felt like we were writing this in the 2000s. So if you were there, we hope this song takes you back. And if you missed out, we hope this song makes you feel like you lived through it all with us."
That's exactly what 'I Miss 2003' is all about! The track is a punchy throwback to our 2003 selves, paying homage to a number of bands that lived in our iPods and MySpace profiles growing up. Driven by an electronic poppier beat, the chorus packs big 2000s energy and I don't know about you, but I feel like I'm screaming my lungs out in the middle of some Emo Night dancefloor here. I won't mention any of the bands that As It Is have featured throughout the lyrics, because that's for you to check out and decipher!
The song is the fourth single released from the band's forthcoming fourth album, I Went To Hell and Back, which will be released via Fearless Records on February 4, 2022. After hearing this epic nostalgic banger, I am very excited for what else to come.
