Perth’s Patient Sixty-Seven are lighting up a darker, heavier path on their progression to becoming Australia’s next big metalcore exports. As we experienced with ‘Damage Plan’ earlier, the boys are digging deep and constantly striving to find new motions to keep their music as aggressive and melodic as possible. ‘Wayfarer’ is the band’s brand new single and I feel like it’s their catchiest song yet.
Combining a mesh of solid breakdowns and punchy riffs, this one manages to take you on a rollercoaster of aggression, ebbing and flowing inbetween the guttering vocal ranges that frontman Tom Kiely has unlocked here — it’s seriously one of his best ranges yet! Talking us through their newest release, Tom shares:
“‘Wayfarer’ is one we wrote about the anxiety and fears in getting older, and seeing life pass you by. With the pandemic forcing so many of us to reckon with our own realities, this song is about looking time face to face – acknowledging you’re scared of what’s to come, and what you might have missed out on.
Maybe we don’t have the answers, and that’s fucking scary. The song was a chance to work through that fear in what it would mean if you kept looking back on your own life with regret.”
Loving the amount of progression you’ve taken here boys. Keep it up!
