Mitch James Departs ATLVS Amidst Mental Health Struggles

Melbourne metalcore upcomers ATLVS have announced they're losing unclean vocalist Mitch James, who has revealed he's been battling his own mental health struggles recently and can't give his all to the band.

In a statement via the band's Facebook Page, he revealed:

"To keep this short and sweet; I've neglected my mental health for a long time, and it's come to a point where I need to take action and look after myself."

James adds that his struggles started getting in the way of the band's creative flow and he doesn't want to let them down, by slowing the process down

"I cannot give these fellas 100% of me because I am not 100%. I would only be slowing down the process of a band that is well on their way to gaining a serious name within our scene. To slow that progress down would be unfair"

Almost a year to the day, we premiered ATLVS' track 'Sorrow' which featured Mitch in the new frontman role, taking over from Jesse Buckingham, who departed in 2019.

We admire Mitch's honesty and being big supporters of mental health, we hope he gets the help he needs to get his life back on track. It's always important to focus on your mental wellbeing and we encourage everyone to seek help, should they need it.

Catch Mitch's final show with ATLVS supporting Tapestry on April 23rd at Stay Gold in Melbourne. Tickets here
