Wall of Sound Presents: “2020 YEAR IN REVIEW” – by Terra’s Cassie Sutton

Next up we’ve got Terra front lady Cassie Sutton giving us a rundown of her and her band’s year in 2020. After a powerful performance at UNIFY at the start of the year, the band took their music into their own hands, self-producing an acoustic EP before unleashing their stellar new single ‘Frenemies‘ which resulted in the band taking out the #4 spot in our Pop Punk Bands to Watch in 2021 list (revisit it here) and even scored some airplay on BBC’s Radio 1 Rock Show with Dan Carter!

What’s next for Terra? Well, take a look at Cassie’s Year In Review to find out…

LAST GIG YOU PLAYED BEFORE COVID?

The last show we played before Covid was at Stay Gold with the legends in As It Is.

HOW DID COVID/LOCKDOWNS AFFECT YOU/YOUR BAND?

As all of us are spread out all over Melbourne we really had no choice but to practice in our own time and write together over Discord. It took a lot of trial and error to find which methods of getting together remotely and keeping each other motivated that worked for us. It was really hard at times, but we decided to do our best to make something good out of an awful situation and put all our focus towards self producing and engineering our acoustic EP ‘Into Deep Blue’.

BIGGEST THING YOU LEARNED ABOUT YOURSELF IN 2020?

The main thing that resonated with all of us this year was really being grateful for the small things. We can be overstimulated, get decision fatigue and take things for granted so easy when everything is so readily accessible. Having those limitations of where we could go, what we could do and who we could see really put what’s important in life into perspective.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2021?

Shows!! We are SO keen to get back on stage, and are lucky to already have some plans in the works. Making up for lost time with their friends and family is definitely something we’re all looking forward to in 2021.
