Wall of Sound presents: “2020 YEAR IN REVIEW” – by ERRA’s Joseph “JT” Cavey

I think a whole lot of us gasped in excitement when ERRA dropped two new songs last year and announced their signing to UNFD. That surely means more visits to Australia once touring is back up and running again… right?

Anyway, they used the year to relaunch themselves and in the process learned a lot more about themselves than ever before. Who knew a pandemic could have that effect on the world… where’s the sarcasm button!?

Anyway, we asked scream boy JT Cavey for his thoughts on 2020 and this is his Year in Review all for you…

LAST GIG YOU PLAYED BEFORE COVID?

Amsterdam, NL @ Melkweg. December 7th, 2019. August Burns Red, ERRA, Currents.

In every way. We had to change our entire timeline for the future of our band to continue our momentum and sustainability. It has had a huge impact on our mental state and stability, as well as affecting us financially. Thankfully, we have a very solid team that doesn’t like to give up and we are making the best of the situation and climate/state of the music industry.

BIGGEST THING YOU LEARNED ABOUT YOURSELF IN 2020?

I am more fragile than I thought I was. I guess it takes a global pandemic to fully understand the spectrum of emotions and struggles that can exist inside of you, fighting to emerge, even if you don’t want to realize its validity. If you neglect your mental state or past unconfronted experiences, it’s in moments like these that they will present themselves in the worst way.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2021?

Packing out a venue with healthy, happy people excited to see live music again.
