Looks like Devin Townsend & DevilDriver are announcing (separate) Australian Tours very soon...

"JB You've Done It Again!" is the slogan for Australia's biggest one-stop-shop for everything including vinyl and keen eyes would have spotted a little teaser revealing that prog-master Devin Townsend will be making his way down under in 2019 for an Australian East Coast Tour (you can win your way there by ordering a copy of his forthcoming album Empath). The competition states:
"Pre-order 'Empath' by Devin Townsend here before 11:59pm AEDT on Thursday, 4 April 2019 for a chance to WIN a double pass to see Devin Townsend live on his Australian Tour in 2019 in either Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane + a meet & greet with Devin Townsend for the Winner and their guest!"

*Note, this isn't a paid ad/article for the album or JB HiFi in any way, but Devin's Aussie tour plans haven't been announced yet (nor are they on his website), so consider this to be the first you're hearing about it thanks to our keen eye metal writer Trudy @BrutalTrudes who tipped us off. The Devin Townsend Project were last here in 2017 and shows sold out all over the place. With the way his new album is going to sound, we can guarantee something similar this time around too. We'll let you know once the tour has officially been announced but until then check out his latest single 'Evermore' which came out overnight right here.
Now over to DevilDriver, because of Devin's recent trip here 2 years ago, don't expect his tour to be part of Destroy All Lines' heavy international duo announcement getting revealed on Sunday night, which DAL General Manager Chris O'Brien started teasing this week via Twitter:

Plenty of suggestions came rolling in and Chris was quick to deny the vast majority of them, including the headline act NOT being here for a music festival 5 years ago (e.g. Soundwave Festival 2014)

However, the MVP of the whole thread was Twitter user @castleet who got the first Yes for one of the many bands he suggested:

Taking a look at that list, we were able to narrow down which bands were here last and what for:
Killer Be Killed - Last here in 2015 for Soundwave Festivals + Sideshows
Kreator - Last here in 2017
Avenged Sevenfold - Last here in 2014 for Soundwave Festival + Sideshows
My Chemical Romance - Last here in 2012 for Big Day Out + Sideshows
The Ghost Inside - Last here in 2014 for The Rise of Brotality Tour, but, they're also only playing one "comeback" show in 2019 and that's in America, which they revealed on their Facebook page, stating: "This is absolutely 100% the only show we will play in 2019"
Bury Tomorrow - Also, last here in 2014 for The Rise of Brotality Tour. Have a new album out called Black Flame which was released in July 2018. Been 5 years since their last tour and they definitely owe us some shows in the meantime, especially since they also released the album Earthbound in 2016, so they've got plenty of new material to offer...
BUT, we have considerable reason to believe it'll be:
DevilDriver - Last here in 2014 for Soundwave Festival BUT THEN an East Coast Tour later in the year alongside Whitechapel. Have also released two albums in between their last visit including 2016's Trust No One and their most recent offering Outlaws ‘til the End, Vol. 1 (our review here). Frontman Dez Fafara co-hosted our Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall podcast last year (revisit it here) and hinted they were trying to get here soon, so that's an extra vote for them.
However, a cryptic clue the band revealed last month was the absolutely clencher for DevilDriver being announced tomorrow:
Turn on notifications Announce coming ! @devildriver @theoraclemgmt

That confirms it right? Bet your bottom dollar on it, especially since we'd consider DevilDriver to be heavier than Bury Tomorrow as per Chris' tweet. The DevilDriver boys will also be in Japan at the end of May so maybe lock this tour in for June!?
Now, as for the support act who is still in question joining Devildriver, the clue left for us to sit on was they'll be "playing their first shows in 9 years" in Australia.

Immediately, a band like Evergreen Terrace came to mind. They were last here for a headline tour alongside Casey Jones in 2010 and following that, they were supposed to be on the 2015 Soundwave Festival lineup but had to pull out due to an injury then-drummer Brad Moxey sustained at the time... That guess is much looser, so stay tuned for the official announcement tomorrow to find out!
Also, Before you ask, Casey Jones broke up in 2012 and haven't played a show since. Yes its been 9 years since their last Australian show, but I don't see them getting back together to play here first.
