Wall of Sound presents: “2018 YEAR IN REVIEW” – by Wall of Sound Photographer Kim Anderson

I didn’t have a valid excuse for ignoring music this year so I actually made an effort to listen to some new stuff since I’ve gone to fuck all shows this year [Three Cheers For Chronic Pain!] I even made a 2018 Spotify playlist. Check me out being organized and stuff. It’s all pretty erratic just like my mood swings. Also my mid-year review I listed Rick Astley as the highlight for the rest of the year. You should know it’s actually decent..

BEST GIG YOU’VE SEEN 2018?

Since February I’ve been saying Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes but as of November they were beaten by Richard Marx. OHMYFUCKINGGOD!!! I was not at all prepared for this show. I was expecting a bit of a trip down memory lane and to hear my fav song ‘Should’ve Known Better‘ (I have his 1987 self-titled album on vinyl and somehow haven’t worn that one patch out), but what I got was a 55 year old pervy old man (and we loved every last bit of it), is a phenomenal singer and is hilarious. This guy wins at banter! He’s a total riot! I haven’t been this entertained in a long time. I’ve also never seen grown ass women (we’re talking 30-60 age group) act like teen girls running towards the stage either.

NEXT BIG BAND TO WATCH IN 2018?

The Donald Trumpets

FAV BAND YOU DISCOVERED IN 2018?

Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes. I got into listening to them as they were about to tour the country, then I checked out Gallows. Some of these songs got me through 2018.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2019?

Rick Grimes returning to his rightful place as King of Alexandria, the Australian medical system being a bit more prompt with appointments, the new Oomph album out in January, and I’m also keen to hear whatever Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes has cooking!
