Wall of Sound presents: “2018 YEAR IN REVIEW” – by The Beautiful Monument’s Andrea Skoumbri

Talking about bands who had some pretty decent coverage in 2018, The Beautiful Monument proved they are a force to be reckoned with following the release of their debut album I’m The Sin and their subsequent showcases at Big Sound.

The played UNIFY (after years of attending as patrons) and are set to explode next year with new music on the way, so before they got too big to return our calls, we grabbed guitarist/shredmaster Andrea Skoumbri for her thoughts on our Wall of Sound 2018 Year In Review…

BEST SHOW YOUR BAND PLAYED THIS YEAR?

Toss up between Unify and In Hearts Wake. Both were extremely fun and I got different things from them. There is always a different kind of excitement for a festival where everyone around you is in such high spirits, but I feel I learn more when on tour because you have the time to speak to other musicians etc. We had a lineup change at the start of the year so it was a learning curve for our shows this year but and I’m grateful to have had a variety of shows for us to settle/learn how each other work and come into our own.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2019?

Musically, releasing new music. Although I don’t get sick of playing “old” songs like some people do, I am looking forward to how the new songs will translate off stage and on and what that’ll mean for us opportunity wise in 2019.

Non musically; watching anime, eating food, buying unnecessary electronics, and hopefully getting to travel. These are the things my brain tends to thinks about during mundane tasks so I think that means they make me happy.
