The Grammys delivered a (kind of) impressive collection of heavy/rock nominees

Each year, The Grammy nominees come out and (much like the ARIAs) you’re either excited for a few of the names to receive a nod OR you couldn’t give a shit… Well, we’re keen to support the ongoing work of heavy/rock music and a few nominees got announced that we’re stoked for.

Best Rock Performance

Will see the likes of Fever 333 ‘Made An America’, Arctic Monkeys ‘Four Out Of Five’, Halestorm ‘Uncomfortable’, Greta Van Fleet ‘Highway Tune’ and the late Chris Cornell ‘When Bad Does Good’ taking on each other for the title.

My Prediction: I would love to see Fever 333 take it out but this one may go be a posthumous win for Chris Cornell or a shock WTF? for the Led Zeppelin ripoff Greta Van Fleet.

Best Metal Performance

The category we’re most looking for to will have Between The Buried And Me ‘Condemned to the Gallows’, Deafheaven ‘Honeycomb’, High on Fire ‘Electric Messiah’, Trivium ‘Betrayer’, and Underoath ‘On My Teeth’ battling it out for the crown.

My Prediction: Trivium should have this in the bag 100% but a surprise win from BTBAM could happen which would also be just as deserving.

Best Rock Song

An interesting mix of bands in the Best Rock Song category will see Bring Me The Horizon ‘MANTRA’, Greta Van Shit ‘Black Smoke Rising’, Twenty One Pilots ‘Jumpsuit’, St. Vincent ‘Masseduction’ and GhostRats‘ all competing for the gong.

My Prediction: twenty one pilots may take it out (if not the Led Zeppelin rip-offs GVF). But, I’d love for BMTH to receive it for their stellar first single from new album amo. That song and video rips harrrrrd.

The annual awards will take place on February 10th and, as usual, we’ll let you know which legends won an award or which legends were robbed. Check back in next year.
