Cancer Bats frontman Liam Cormier calls out “industry scumbags”

Those who have seen or are fans of Cancer Bats, know the guys like to party and have a good time, you’d also know they’re a bunch of good dudes who look out for fans in and outside of shows and frontman Liam Cormier isn’t afraid to tell it like it is when it comes to the current state of the music industry.

Between sexual misconduct allegations, assault and violence against women (and men) just to name a few of the most recent issues, there seems to be a massive spotlight on bands/musicians at the moment and Liam welcomed the idea during his co-host spot on this week’s Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall podcast stating:

“Its good that there’s a spotlight and a dialogue happening with any of these things and I think it’s sad that its taken this long for people to feel comfortable enough [to speak out] and that they wouldn’t be shamed on the internet for trying to speak out about some of these people that have taken advantage of the positions that they’ve been in. So yeah, bring on the spotlight”

“Its not hard to not be a scumbag.”

For one of the nicest guys in the industry, the man has a lot to say on the subject which draws you in and leaves you hanging on his every word. He even goes as far to elaborate on the unfortunate side of the truth coming out, when unknowingly innocent band/work mates get caught up in the drama:

“…the only downside is the element where the actions of one person then reflect [on everyone else]. You have one guy from a band [doing the wrong thing] then the rest of his band isn’t working or you have one person who produces a television show, then the show gets cancelled. Those are the brutal realities but I feel all of that has to be dealt with.”

And we are starting to see more and more of these perpetrators rightfully being held accountable for their actions. I would say buy this man a beer, but since he’s a non-drinker, buy a ticket to their upcoming tour supporting Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes.
