Wall of Sound presents: “2017 YEAR IN REVIEW” – by Sensaii’s Kerry Rowe

Brisbane band Sensaii have also had a pretty good year in 2017, they have been working their arses off to write and record their new Dig Deep EP which was released back in October and managed to debut at #3 on the Australian Metal iTunes charts, guitarist Chris Burt co-hosted our Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall podcast and revealed they’re not stopping anytime soon with work on their next album already taking place. We grabbed one of the band’s newest members Kerry Rowe for his thoughts with our Wall of Sound 2017 Year in Review…

Top 5 Albums of 2017

Shit, this is a hard one. In no particular order:

Counterparts – You’re Not You Anymore
Stick To Your Guns – True View
While She Sleeps – You Are We
Gideon – Cold
Polaris – The Mortal Coil

Special mention to Lil Peep‘s – Come Over When You’re Sober, Pt. 1.

Top 5 Songs of 2017

1. Architects – ‘Doomsday
2. Stick To Your Guns – ‘Delinelle
3. The Plot In You – ‘I Feel Nothing
4. Kendrick Lamar – ‘DNA
5. Wage War – ‘Stitch

Best Music Video of 2017

This is a tough one too. There’s been some really great videos to come out of 2017. I’d have to say one that really blew me away was The Plot In You – ‘I Feel Nothing‘… Logic – 1-800-273-8255‘ is also right up there too, especially with everything that’s happened in Australia with the Same Sex Marriage plebiscite just recently. Some seriously heavy content.

Best Gig You Saw in 2017

I don’t know if this counts as a ‘gig’, but Unify Gathering 2017 in January was amazing. Such a huge collection of amazing bands. Shout out to the fam in Tapestry and the NT Red Dirt Crew too. Catch y’all in January for more debauchery… If we’re talking a singular gig, it’d have to be Every Time I Die, letlive, Counterparts and Deadlights at the Triffid in Brisbane. Three of my favourite bands being supported by the local boys that deserve all the props in the world. What a time to be alive. [Wall of Sound ETID Gallery here]

Favourite Moment With Your Band in 2017

My favourite moment with Sensaii this year is easily recording and releasing our EP – Dig Deep. This was our first record since both James and I joined the band and it was just straight up amazing.

Best Show Your Band Played This Year

Easily the best show we played this year was our EP release show at our stomping grounds, Crowbar in Brisbane. It was insane. Not only were we able to share the stage with some great bands, but with some great mates. Homies, bevs, beats – that’s the shit we live for.

What Are You Looking Forward to in 2018

2018 is shaping up to be huge for the Sensaii camp. We’ve already started working on our next full length record, so make sure you keep your finger on the Sensaii pulse. We’ve also got some very cool stuff coming up early in the year but y’all just gonna have to wait to see what that’s all about – for now.
