Wall of Sound presents “2015 YEAR IN REVIEW” – by Scalphunter’s Alex Cotton

Perth punks, Scalphunter have been known around the local traps for their non-stop frenetic shows but after several EP’s including the Double A Sided single release from earlier in 2015 the band are slowly but surely making waves into the east coast. The guys were relentless in gig performances all year in Perth but also found the time for a few shows in Melbourne and Adelaide during the year as well as being recognised by Short.Fast.Loud on Triple J. Locally the lads picked up 2015 Punk Act of the Year by WAM (West Australian Music Assoc.) and were also nominated for song of the year.

Scalphunter have supported recent tours including Misfits and The Exploited and tore up the stage as part of Blood Rock Fest in October. The band should be closing in on a debut studio length album in 2016 and one that should garner lavish praise considering the band’s quality of tracks on previous EP’s.

Alex Cotton, guitarist from the band, joined WALL OF SOUND as we continue December’s month long ride into 2015 ‘Year in Review’.

Enjoy…..

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TOO IN 2016?
We are looking forward to finally releasing our full length album! We recorded middle of this year and have almost finished mixing, then we will master it and sort pressing etc… hopefully out Q2 next year.

NEXT BIG BAND IN AUSTRALIA? (not your own haha)
Oh this is always hard… I need to shout out to the band who technically released their album in 2014 but played shows launching it this year… SUMERU from Sydney. Their album Holy Lands would be all over this list but it’s technically not a 2015 album. They rule everyone should check them out!

Peace out! xx

Thanks Alex for your thoughts!
